McCain - "Judge me by the company I keep". Ok...
OK Sen McCain, lets take a look and see who keeps you company when things really count...
- NY Times - liberal bastion endorsement (plus too many other liberal papers to name)
- John Kerry - flirted with leaving the GOP to become a Dem VP
- Russ Feingold - limits on political speech
- Ted Kennedy - promotes amnesty for illegals
- Lieberman & Edwards - unilaterally hobble the US in regulations and bureacracy fighting a hoax: anthropogenic global warming.
- Geraldo - favors open borders
- National Council For The Race (aka 'La Raza') - Hispanic Racist activist group.
- Juan Hernandez your Outreach Director - MEXICAN CITIZEN who wants 7th generation to think "Mexico First"
- Charles Keating from whom McCain took money, a guy that cost the nation millions in the Savings and Loan fraud debacle.
McCain is a dead duck come the main election against Clinton/OBama and the Dem smear machine.
Just say NO to the two-faced non-conservative McCain. Even if you have to hold your nose, caucus for Romney on Tuesday in Colorado.
McCain is NOT a conservative.
People cite his lifetime 83 ACU rating. Well it doesn't mean anything since he has changed his stripes over the past few years.
If you want to talk ACU rating - look at his most recentscore - and his ranking amongst others.
For that most recent year on record, 2006, McCain scored only 65, putting him in 47th place for that year. Ben Nelson (D-NE) and Chuck Hagel (R-NE), for example, scored 64 and 75, respectively, in 2006.
It speaks volumes that Democrat Ben Nelson is nearly the same as McCain, and that supposedly "Moterate-to-Liberal" Hagel is 10 points better!
McCain is not even in the top 40 conservative senators.

I got emails about McCain
For some reason the MSM has spread the idea that Fred's supporters will go over to McCain, quickly and easily. (bumped from 1/20)
WRONG.
I think I can speak for a lot of "Fredheads" in saying that we would never vote for Huckabee or Guiliani. Period. Huckbee is a liar and an opportunist shill - and rapidly becoming McCains lap dog. Guiliani is a liberal on far too many issues out of the race. McCain is severely defective in many ways that are extremely important.
That leaves Romney as the "hold your nose" alternative for Thompson backers. And even that may be asking too much. I am close to sitting things out, and leaving the Republican Party since they cannot get conservative values across this time. They've had my time and money and wasted it here in Colorado on Country Club non-conservative losers like Beaurprez and Coors and O'Donnell (7th CD).
Speaking of Colorado candidates, in hindsight, Bill Owens is probably the worst disaster to hit the Republican party in Colorado - he destroyed it by letting it rot, and drifting away from conservative roots into rootless moderatism. On personal matters, witness his divorce, in contra to his Catholic faith (some allege he messed around). But more importnatly, Owens failed to lead the party, failed to develop candidates at the lower levels who we will need at the higher levels, failed to campaign and help the local and congressional Republicans from the state's "Bully Pulpit". He seemed more concerned with staying popular than he did in keepign the GOP viable in Colorado. Owens sat with his thumb up his butt and did nothing to help the party in 2006. In my opinion, Owens is two faced and deserves every bit of criticism that is heaped onto him.
OK, enough of Colorado politics. Back to the issue at hand that I got several emails on:
McCain.
If he is the nominee, and still has the stands he does now, then I will not vote for him. I will either sit it out and only vote the Senate race, or go third party. I will not give my assent to a man I beleive would be just as bad for the nation as would be Clinton or Obama.
The ONLY way I would go to mcCain is if Fred drop completely out Fred's out, and Romney failes to convince me that his flip flops are genuine conversions ... remains to be seen but looking more genuine as of late. And even then McCain must do the following:
- Offers assurances about illegal immigration - he must build the fence, quickly, and support Attrition Through Enforcement. It works - look at Oklahoma and other states that are using "ATE". And the jobs they leave are being filled by otherwise unemployed citizens, whcih is good going into a recession that will have us shedding jobs.
- He must support making some form of the Bush tax cuts permanent, otherwise when they expire we will have the largest tax increase in the history of the nation, and it will hurt the middle class the worst. Sure to knock us into a deep recession, and hurt us in terms of global competitiveness.
- He must do as Thompson did and admit that McCain-Feingold was a mistake, and seek its repeal - allow any and all contributions, but they must be attributed clearly to individuals, and must be reported within 24 hours as a matter of public record, and available on the Internet for repoerters and everyone else to search out. If our candidates are going to be bought and sold, let us know who is doing the buying, and who is selling out.
- He must stop buying the collectivist bilge that the anthropogenic global warming people are selling. Antrhopogenic global warming is NOT a scientific fact- its a theory that scoming ever more into question as to its validity. Especially in light of correlation versus causation, and things like solar cycles, the latter which are now indicating an impending cooling period.
- He must declare that he will work for energy independence, and that means Nuclear Power, as well as lots of alternative energy sources, and go for CLEAN drilling where we have reserves, including ANWR and the coasts of FL and CA. We have the tech to do that cleanly, lets use it.
- He must go hat in hand and take his lumps from Conservative media and get their support - people like National Review, Hannity, and yes, the grand poobah, Rush Limbaugh. If a Republican cannot get those guys behind him, he will not carry conservatives, and will lose in the general election.
- He must take a solid conservative as VP. Probably not Thompson, but someone who will generate buzz and counterweight him, a solid conservative and campaigner like RNC chair Michael Steele of MD (or J.C. Watts of Oklahoma).
If McCain jumps through those hoops, then he becomes acceptable to me and most other conservatives.
I see the chances as slim and none.

Sad Day. Fred is out. And this blog is done.
Before anyone asks, I will not support ANY of the candidates now running until and unless they change their stances on key conservative issues of non-amnesty for illegal alieans, border security and enforcment, the falsehood of anthropogenic global warming, smaller governement, ending earmarks, and freedom of political speech - all areas where McCain falls flat, as well as being right on Second Amendment issues, strict constructionist judges, and pro-life.
To the GOP "elite": do you want to continue to control a loser or do you have the guts to take a chance on a winner that you'd notbe able to control?
Right now, as I stated before, you'd rather sell out principles and lose than lose control of the party.
In short, I'm probably not going to support the Republican Party as it currently is composed. I'll let the Country Club Repubs try to do it without us Sam's Club Republicans. Good luck with that, Bush and Company. You'll lose just like you did in 2006 with Beuaprez and before that with Coors and Dole. You've seen the last of my time and money. And there are many others like me.

The case for staying in...
If for no other reason than this:
We need someone espousing and articulating the entire spectrum of Conservatism and Federalism, calling the others to task and forcing them towards conservatism in areas they come up short.
And also, Fred takes from Huckabee, whom I despise, so thats a VERY good thing.
If only Fred would lay into McCain on Immigration, I'd be much happier.
So Fred, if you're listening, your duty is not finished.

Fred Thompson just spoke to his supporters in South Carolina, where he appears headed for a weak third or fourth place finish. Thompson thanked everyone and then spoke about America and conservatism's contribution to it. He did not talk about Florida or being in the race to stay.
Word is that Thompson will return to Tennessee to visit his mother in the hospital. While he's there, presumably, he'll consider his options. Frankly, and I say this with regret, it's difficult to see the case for him remaining in the race.

If for some reason you have waited, now is the last chance. Get on the Fred08 site and make some calls for Fred in South Carolina. If you dont want McCain & his Amnesty, or Huckabee and his Clinton/Carter act, then get on the phone and call as if the nation depended on it. It does. This is our best chance to force Fred onto the MSM radar, and get the true conservative views heard.
p.s. I've been calling every other day for the past week - and I have been getting great responses and only a few grumpy ones. There is something to be said for Southern Hospitality, especially when your guy is a Soutnerner and a Conservative. If you've never done it before, git it a spin, especially if you have some unused minutes to spare on your cell phone.
Skip 9news for a night and give some potential "Flip For Fred" people a call between 6 and 7 mountain time tonight and tomorrow.

Colorado is on the verge of being abandoned for Conservatives
Unless drastic changes are made, and made soon, Colorado will be an easy lock for Romney or Giuliani now, because thats who the state powerbrokers have decided they want for candidates. Never mind what we the people think - the self-appointed elites and country club types will tell us Sam's Club Republicans who we get to choose. That worked Really Well with Senator Pete Coors and Rep O'Donnell in the 7th, Governor Beaupreaz - oops they ALL LOST!
Owens, Holtzman, and all you other power brokers, you are idiots. You suck at picking out candidates, especially truly conservative ones that can run and win in Colorado. You just grab more of the same, slicksters and big government types. You've done it again for Presidential candidates.
And then you have the gall to wonder why the Republican Party in this state is falling apart! You dont run people at low levels, for grooming and training the next set of statewide candidates, you have done nothing to buidl the party up at all - you compromise conservative principles for expediency, you sell out the voters to retain power.
And that is why you lose. You lose elections, and now you're losing conservatives, pretty soon you'll lose whats left of the party completely.
You would rather maintain control over a loser than lose control with a winner.
And in my view, thats a cowardly and despicable way to run a party.
Romney takes Wyoming. Where is the Thompson Campaign?
This is an official rant. If you are offended, then ignore it.
I've been at this off and on, here on the web and behind the scenes since March. And the one consistent thing I have run into is that the Thompson Campaign folks NEVER seem to follow through and seem utterly uninterested in harnessing grass roots volunteers - indeed they seem to discard them as useless.
I guess the Fred Folks didnt need the names and leaders and so on that we tried to give them this summer for Colorado and Wyoming. They ignored us and now Romney walks away with a big win and Fred gets crumbs in Wyoming. We had peopel months ago lined up to gather groups, to pish their local legislators for endorsements of Fred, to rally and spread the word. But the Thompson campaign staff never called them. They never responded. Same thing goes for Colorado.
Crap like this makes me despair that Thompson will run any campaign much less a good one. We tried to organize Wyoming back in May and June, and the "official" people ***NEVER*** got back to us. So all the excitement died down and the people went away due to not having any official people to turn to.
And Feb 5 are the caucuses here - and we STILL dont have any official contact or organization here in Colorado.
Fred, wake the hell up - your people are NOT doing their jobs, and you are going to LOSE if you keep it up like this. And if you lose, then we lose the last conpletely conservative candidate, and are stuck with liberal Giuliani, open-border big government McCain or the faux-con Romney (or God Forbid, "Gomer" Huckabee).

Iowa? Full of...
Idiots apprently, who would vote the superficialities of their Evangelical beleifs without bothering to look at the acctual effects and history of the candidate and policies. The empty headed populist rhetoric along with the constant "I am the Jesus Candidate" of Huckbee apparently fooled a lot of people in Iowa. And Huckabee lied - he ran the attack ad even after he said he was not going to. The state that gave large numbers to Pat Robertson and Buchanan strikes again with Huckabee (and Ron paul in double digits). Fools!

Tom, the only one out there other than Hunter, that supports your view of securing the border as a matter of national defese, is Fred. Fred woke up - and I did too
Well, it looks like Fred has decided to campaign after all. So Im blogging again as best I can. It may take a few days for me to get all the stale links updated here, so for those of you looking here, bear with me. I'll be back to the old volume quite soon.
So I will try to get back in the saddle here. If you get the chance, go sign up for a phone bank and donate to get Fred the money to get the word out in Iowa. The truth about Huckabee being suspect on crime, immigration, taxes, government, terror, and corrutption seems to be coming out. SO come on over to Fred. the only CONSISTENT CONSERVATIVE in the race, HANDS DOWN.

Natives are getting restless out west
This is fairly simple. The Thompson campaign appears to have abandoned the early supporters, the grass roots and the internet. I am getting direct mails, and have notices that Fred's online presence has dwindled away to nothing other than his website.
And here is a damning post I saw on a newsboard. After he goes through the reasons he cannot support Hucakabee as a nannystater, Romney as untrustworthy flip-flop fake, Guiliani as wrong on immigration, 2nd Amendment, judges and being pro-life, and Ron Paul for being a nutter...As many of you know I was touting Thompson here in March. And for a while it seemed that Fred was the guy. He has all the right stands, his Federalist approach is exactly what we need. He is strong on 2nd amendment rights, strict judges, border AND internal enforcement against illegal aliens, strong on winning the war on Islamic Fascism, strong on smaller but more efficient government, and strong on individual liberty. What's not to like? BUT...
He isn't campaigning worth a crap - he is the right guy philosophically, but nobody is hearing about it, and those grass roots organizers like me have been shunted aside and ignored. I had well over a hundred people stepping up in my state ready to do the footwork. But we have gotten ZERO response from the campaign, and the numbers have withered away to less than 2 dozen, because there is simply NOTHING TO DO.
The campaign never called us, never emailed us never acknowledged that we
existed.The new people that came in August to run the show threw away all the internet support, threw away and neglected the grass roots except to send old-style direct mailers to us recently begging for money, threw away his Youtube spots, threw away the podcasts, and threw away all the momentum we generated. Its like they want to run a 1992 campaign, top-down, direct-mai and phone based. But its 2007 dammit, thats a recipe for losing!
So now, unless someone in the Thompson campaign wakes the hell up and shakes things up, Fred is done.
And that leave me with precisely NOBODY I want to vote FOR on the Republican side. I will not be donating money, I will not be volunteering to do campaign work. I will only ultimately pull the lever AGAINST the Dems, because the porkers and powerbrokers in the Republican Party have failed to leave the Country Club and come back for us Sam's Club Republicans.
And by the way Thompson Campaign, I am still waiting for even a single email from you about several Thompson domains I own. Its been months.

Sorry for the absence
Between health and job issues, I simply have not been able to blog.
I hope to return to this soon. I am actively looking for employment as a software engineer (I also have a recently active security clearance). If you know of anyone that would be interested, have them email me through this website.
If anyone from the Thompson campaign happens across this, I have been trying to get in touch with your internet people for 2 months about the Fred Thompson domains I own. Not a peep. Thats not a good way to run a campaign, ignoring your early supporters - I could be mean and point them at Hillary or Romney's site. But I will not. Email me.
