Message from 1994. Some Republicans still have not taken it to heart
This is why the Republicans WON in 94 and why they got tossed in 06. They forgot why we sent them. They gave us the Bridge to Nowhere and the defeat of earmark reforms, waffling on district judges, the utter lack of courage to fight Democrat obstructionism, disunity by not disciplining RINOs, corruption via lobbyists, and letting squabbling, inactivity and huge government growth be what they became known for. Kinda sad, but if Fred runs against his own party, he'd win with this message. Add in the war and the consequences of retreat, and you have a winner for the 2008 campaign in a nutshell.
